Spontaneous insanity

Topic: It's all about me
It's not my fault. All of the blame can be placed squarely on the shoulders of B. Dalton Booksellers.

So the other day, in a weird fit of sleep deprivation (and having a nice stack of xmas cash), I decided to motor on over to Clovis and have a nice little day to myself. The original plan was to hit the Hastings, maybe have some sort of iced coffee deal, and then browse a bit and buy maybe $50 worth of whatever happened to appeal to me.

Yes, I was stupid enough to bring all my cash.

However, the way Clovis is arranged it's a total bitch to get into the center where the Hastings is. I decided to swing by the mall and peep out the Sears to see if maybe they had a coffee grinder I could have. But there's this timing issue - it's an hour earlier there, and it's roughly an hour drive, so I get there around the time I leave home. The mall was open, but none of the stores were, so I had this cute idea to join the mall walkers until the stores opened and maybe earn my little shopping spree.

My legs still ache. I walked that fucking mall for nearly an hour. And it's not like I was cruising at power walk speeds like some of those little old ladies. Oh no - I was just leisurely strolling around, doing a little window shopping, and cutting corners like a bad little boy. I'm sure I pissed off a couple of the serious mall walkers.

So while I'm getting my exercise in I pass by the B. Dalton's. I used to have one of those saver card deals, but quit renewing it because the one in the mall kinda sucked and when the Hastings came in I had found a store I liked much better. (The Hastings is HUGE! It has pretty much anything I could want. Really, skipping the mall is entirely possible now.) Apparently I'm not the only one who jumped ship because the poor little mall bookstore was closing. The whole back half of the store was empty and all the remaining books had been shoved to the front of the store.

I finally gave up on the mall walking and decided to zip down the back way to the Java Loft and have me an iced mocha latte. By the time I was done with my little bevvie break I figured I'd killed enough time for the stores to open, and I went back to the mall.

No, of course the store I wanted wasn't open. That would be too easy. So again I wandered the mall a bit, and at the little calendar kiosk I saw that they had a Mille Bornes box set, a game I've been looking for for years. Had to pick that up. Finally the stupid Sears opened, but it was a total waste of time so I left there empty handed. By this time the bookstore was open, so I cruised on in and picked up every single book that jumped out at me (hey, 50% off is my kind of deal). I had to stop over at the Hot Topic too because I just absolutely needed an Inuyasha shirt, and I also found a cool 9 ep DVD of Invader Zim.

By now I'm totally committed to shopping psychosis - I'd reached the critical point of spending and there was no going back. I stopped by the Walgreen's for some booze, then had to go the long way around (because Clovis is a mess) to get to the Hastings. I finished off the day there with some music and anime and all the Pirates packs they had in the little bin. (And that fucking bin was hidden too - took me 10 minutes to finally locate it.)

By this time I've blown roughly $150 on every random impulse I could manage to indulge. So worth it, even though I'm now down to less than 30 bones. I loves my toys.
