Hiding in the Tornado shelter
Mood:  loud
Now Playing: the Chemical Brothers, again + Danger Doom occasionally
Topic: It's all about me
I was good today and socialized. Aren't you proud of me?

Woke up round noon when the phone went off, but I knew I'd never get to it in the other room before it quit, so I just stretched and looked for my glasses. It was my hostess, so I popped onto Y! so we could chat awhile. That and #bearcave kept me hiding most of the afternoon out in the garage.

I put it on some net radio with nice house and techno stuff, and that along with the cds I brought (all 2) means that the little woofer on her desk makes a nice fan during the warm part of the day.

I spooked the others when I went out the first time, because all I did was bang some pots around in the sink from last night and then grab a glass of milk. Then I sat out a while later and chatted with a couple of the guys - random religious/political chatter, nothing grouchy - before wandering back down the tunnel.

The phone was being stupid signalwise the last time I was here, but it seems to be behaving now. Which is good because I know the hubby would lose his mind if we didn't talk for a whole week. I think the phone would explode from non-use. I dunno what it is, but his and my phones have been getting titchy on the signal.

Anyway, I'm gonna cut it here because I'm s'posed to be helping with taco night. Ole (plus accenty thingy).

It's a bit chilly here in the Tornado shelter. I've gone and had to do a mini pack so I could have my week over here in Riverside. So far pretty sedate, despite the chaos of a cramped kitchen with her roomies. The poor fridge had to deal with 2 people going shopping today.

And that's about it. I imagine things will take an entertaining turn within a day or 2. Don't hold your breath though.

Freedom for da hubby
Mood:  crushed out
Now Playing: Danger Doom
Topic: Life in Texas
Which means he gets to be out of the office at a reasonable hour today. I hope he goes out to dinner with his good friends, since he never goes out with the boss after the season is done. I do know he'll be having Easter in Farwell. It's nice to know he won't be in his desk chair at home all weekend. I missed calling him at lunch today. I've managed to catch him a few times though, which is fun.

After this weekend he's going to be busy, visiting Ram in Dallas and helping him find a place. Of course I'll be at the Tornado's place after the weekend. Hmmmm... odd timing there.

Evil
Mood:  mischievious
Topic: Nothing in particular
Evil sneaks up on me in the form of interesting serendipity. The question...

See, the booth I work at (cannons) has gotten another makeover - we lost the side of the ship a couple years ago to another booth. The castle greyskull thing from last year (which I thought was kinda cool) is out too. This year everything is on trailers so it's easy to haul out when faire's done.

The trailers are covered up and a backdrop mounted on them, and part of the backdrop, in the center to make our shooting area high and large, is a good sized, multi layer type lighthouse.

The question is, what does a light house prevent?

ps

Survey - Shrug via Gothling
Mood:  celebratory
Topic: Various webshit
1. You are in charge of creating your own reality show. What's it called, and what is it about?
I suppose a 'Next Pornstar' show would be too far on the tacky side. How about one called 'Switcheroo' where you have two contests, one for men and one for women, and the winners get to trade genders. That would probably suck.

2. Describe your feelings about America, in five words or less:
Just as good as anyone

3. Oh, look, it's baseball season again. Who goes to the Series?
I doubt I'll know when it happens.

4. Have you had implants?
Nope.

5. Botox?
No way. Ew.

6. Rhinoplasty?
No, I like my rhino just the size it is.

7. Steroids?
On a steeeck...

7a. If you answered "yes" to steroids, can we give the San Francisco Giants your number?
*Ba dump-bump*

8. Who's your favorite dead TV star?
Tad Ghostal

9. Give us your favorite quote from a book.
Don't have one offhand. I could go grab Bogombo Snuffbox out of the box and pick a Vonnegut quote for you.

10. What are three American landmarks (or places) you'd like to visit?
Hawaii, Alaska, Moon landing site

11. What are three landmarks (or places) in the rest of the world you'd like to visit?
Japan, the UK, Scandinavia

12. If all planets in the solar system could sustain life, which one (besides Earth) would feel most like home to you?
I think it would be cool to live in a scattered urban sprawl swirling among the asteroids.

13. Why do we have middle schools in the first place?
Because labeling them small, medium and large makes the husky kids sad and fussy.

14. As we all know, Brad + Angelina = Brangelina. Ben + Jennifer = Bennifer. Take your favorite (or least favorite) movie stars and combine their names creatively:
Wilford Brimley + Bob Hoskins = Uncle Wilfskins

15. Favorite classical composer:
I gotta go with Elfman too.

16. Never mind Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Vulcan, whatever: Make up the name of a political party that would most reflect your beliefs:
I have a fwying spween.

17. In your lifetime, what do you think has been the absolute worst trend in fashion?
The waif look.

18. Favorite TV cop of all time:
Right now, Vick Mackey. Woof!

19. Favorite TV sitcom character of all time:
Karen Walker

20. What's the oddest illness you ever had?
The insomnia thing is pretty odd.

21. Have you done it with an intern?
Not powerful enough to even have one.

22. Do you know Matt Hickey?
Yeah, sure.

23. What's your happiest childhood memory?
Cartoons.

24. What was the most memorable dream you've ever had?
I still remember this bizarre nonsense dream I had as a kid about the Rit people. Don't ask, it's not worth it.

25. Marijuana, prostitution, hallucinogens, or profanity on television: Which one would you most like to see made legal?
Caning fundamentalists. Then maybe we wouldn't have to worry about such nonsense.

26. Marijuana, prostitution, hallucinogens, or profanity on television: Which one do you think Courtney Love is doing right now?
Yeah, she's a ho. But how much would you pay?

27. Is it okay to make fun of Scientology?
No, because it only gets you harassed or sued.

28. Speaking of, as we'll all remember, Tom Cruise beat up a couch on national television to celebrate his upcoming arranged marriage to Katie Holmes. What's the craziest thing you've ever done for love?
Moved halfway across the country to a state I swore I would never go to again to live with a man I had met over the telephone.

29. If Jesus were on earth right now for one night only, who do you think he'd prefer to hang out with?
Cookie Monster.

30. Here's a tough one: Which current politician, any level, do you like the most?
Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. No wait, he's not a politician - he's just a puppet with some guy up his ass making him be cruel to innocent bystanders. How could I make that mistake?

31. Who's your craziest relative, and why are they that way?
My immediate family is pretty much black sheep, so I'm guessing it must be hereditary.

32. Do you have any questions for us?
How many eggs?

Well, so much for my flight out to Cali. Apparently all the running around in Clovis that I've done the past couple days put up some sort of red flag with the AmEx folks and they put a hold on everything. We only just got word of it today, so by the time we get everything straightened out I'll have missed my flight. We're hoping to get it rescheduled for next weekend, but there's no way they'll give me the cheapie tickets I already got. So, so annoyed.

It gets much worse...

Some bump and some boom
Mood:  happy
Topic: Brain candy
Went with the hubby today to watch V for Vendetta. He snoozed through about 20 minutes of it, which isn't entirely surprising considering that we had a big lunch just before the movie. I was pleased with the movie - and a bit surprised that there wasn't a massive special effects factor. I imagine that the movie won't play well around here though, because most folks around here either won't like or won't get the political message being portrayed. I couldn't care less about any political blah, I thought it was a great watch.

I also picked up the singles collection cd by the Chemical Brothers the other day. Kinda nice to get a cd at the regular price and have a bonus cd thrown in. I have yet to listen to the actual singles cd though, because the bonus tracks are kicking so much ass. I had that baby cranked up all the way home from Clovis. Damn, it's got bump in it so hard it'll give ya whiplash. Lovin' it!
