RIP Joe Dudley
Mood:  sad
I found out on Wednesday that a wonderful guy, and the joyous light in my bro-in-law's eye, was killed in a motorcycle accident. It was a shock, of course - took me a bit to process. I'd only met him a couple times, but he was fun, unique, and definitely a handful.

He is missed, terribly missed of course - his memorial is in a couple days. The hubby and I and his mother are sending an arrangement. I called the bro up today and had a bit of a chat with him. He's sounding better now, though he can't wait to deal with biz so he can get himself out to NY for the service.

Hope your trip around the sun was worth it, maybe we'll catch each other again in another loop.

I have beads in me beard!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Faire warning
Seymore got me some cool beads to string up in my beard. It took me a bit to figure out how to get them to work, but they look zippy right now. I took a couple pics, but since it's just a webcam I'm working with (in iffy light, no less) the quality is for crap.

A closeup shot...

Pretending that it's heavy
Mood:  silly
Now Playing: dead
Topic: Faire warning
My arms still ache from Sunday. Still! At least I didn't have to stretch them out all day today. It's all about the clearance Easter basket and a day's worth of work.

I got there mostly in costume, so even though we were a bit late I was ready to go right away. I got Trey Dog first on the way in and got a laugh. Found out that I wasn't even on the schedule so I had a play day - with a new toy. Got most of Schultzburg throughout the day and even got a few solid flinches. I nearly made a noble fall on his ass in front of the alestand across from knives.

Needless to say I was holding this thing up all day and fucking with people. The poor little thing is a bit ragged now. The glue still holds, but the bands are separating in the middle and at the bottom. We worked hard for those battle scars.

So there's this dude right, and he's outside the door.

Now, I mean. He's standing out there right now, as I'm typing this.

Anyway, he wants to know if he can buy a gallon of gas because he's just run out. It's just me and Dexter Louise being all smoke-dafied in the living room 'cuz Wolf is sittin' on the pot.

Awkward...

We're being bad and hiding from him while he waits for Wolf to get done and just take him to go get some gas. I just went and gave him a glass of water though, so it's not like we're being hateful or anything. Poor dude just needs to get some fuel.

We're just paranoid and stoned. Sorry dude, we're gonna hide.

Beer for breakfast...
Mood:  lazy
Topic: Faire warning
... is bad for you. And yet somehow each Sunday that I'm out here it ends up being the breakfast of champions. Faire was a tad chilly yesterday, especially towards closing, though my English-type piratey getup is pretty warm when I put the sleeves down.

I had a good time yesterday - the patrons seemed more playful than usual. Sometimes, especially when I'm off shift but still in garb, I like to just sit on the counter and jabber in accent for a while. (Bad accent, remember that.) I like to catch the occasional one off guard with some tacky hawk and make 'em laugh. Putting on the carny bark really does make a mouthy character out of me.

So now thanks to Seymore I've got a little wicker basket deal, and I'm hoping this week that I can transform it into something fun. I've been wanting this for a while now - and if I get this bucket made right I want to use it at least once this year.

Don't know what I'm talking about? Show up at Faire some Sunday, go to cannonade, and make sure you are wearing something flaming. No, this is not a call for a drag parade - we have already met our queen quota (1).

Phone sitch fixed
Mood:  chatty
Topic: Life in Texas
Got a call from the hubby just a bit ago, and it seems that he and the Ram have found a place. Ram's a bit on the cold feet department, but it's the right thing to do - it needs to be done.

His phone is on now, but he called me from Ram's phone. But the phone is indeed on.

Green day come and gone
Mood:  celebratory
Now Playing: Margaret Cho - "Are You Gay?"
Topic: Mixed bag
I figure by the time this gets posted it'll be 4:20. I've been up too long already now.

I was going to put up a happy Green Day notice on the actual date, but I can tell you what this 4/20 was in total lack of:

Internet, none to be had.

And there's no TV in the Tornado shelter, so what is the housecat to do? I mean besides the catnip, I can't just sit here and be loaded jones, can I?

I really suck at the Playstation thing. the Spongebob game finally sucked the life out of me just a bit ago, and the Simpsons game just got straight frustrating, with the cars and the not wrecking things up too bad. Eeeesh! I guess I'm nearing old now.

I tried to call the hubby a couple times, but I get dumped into voicemail without a ring. He must have forgotten to turn turn his phone on after the plane trip down to Dallas. I hope he and Ram have a good time with the house tour. I may have to get Ram's number on my phone, ya think?

Now that we're wired up again and I've done all my homework I'm stuck in that weird sleep-limbo state. I've been up long enough that I'm catching a 2nd wind, and the internet is a great way to stay awake. Only there's nothing to do now that everyone I pay attention to has gone to bed. I'm glad to have the games moving at a reliable pace, and it looks like Briar Co. Blues may make it to day 3 before I'm back home. Day 3!

Rambling... Hmmm... I think that's everything. Did I forget something?
